Re: the Extension of LA Coronavirus Phase Two of Reopening

This week Governor John Bel Edwards announced that Louisiana will stay in Phase Two of reopening for another 28 days. While our team at Cook hoped for better news, we plan to adhere to the Governor’s limits and restrictions until Phase Three is announced.

Our Staff is committed to doing all we can to protect and to serve all of our members and guests at Cook Baptist Church. We always want to ensure that anyone who walks through our doors will feel loved and cared for by this church. In this Spirit of Charity, we ask that all of our members and guests continue to look out for one another and remain sensitive to others in our congregation. We understand that this “new normal” of wearing masks and social distancing has been tedious and uncomfortable for many, especially our family groups and younger members who gather here each week. Therefore, we encourage everyone to remain steadfast and not grow weary with the restrictions that are in place each week.

As Phase Two extends into July, we will continue with Sunday services in the same manner as we have in the past several weeks. Two services (9:00am and 10:30am) will be offered on Sunday mornings for all ages, with social distancing measures in place during worship gatherings and livestream available at 10:30am to those worshiping with us from home. While we continue to encourage everyone to wear masks while inside the campus buildings, our staff strongly advises all who attend our 9:00am service to wear masks. In so doing, we hope to provide at least one service where our more vulnerable members and guests can worship freely with those who choose to wear masks.

Our other weekly activities and programs remain unchanged for now. We anticipate resuming other activities later in Phase Three with the hope of offering a Sunday evening service in the fall. Our staff is so grateful to everyone for your support and encouragement during these unusual days! Let’s continue to encourage one another and to look for ways to serve our community through acts of service and kindness. If you want to talk with one of our pastors or staff, please call us in the office. We’ll be happy to arrange a time with you!

Our office hours will be extended, beginning on June 29th, from 8:00am-3:00pm, Monday through Thursday. Friday hours remain 8:00am-12:00pm.
